(Inspired by an ex-girlfriend of mine who liked to drink, at least a little every day and a lot every weekend. It was never intended to be an anti-alcohol song, just my frustrations over the experience of trying to convince the girl that she was bordering on alcoholism and should probably tone it down.)
lyrics
you were the life of the party, everybody's friend
but who knew your innocence was at its end
the night that i found you on the bathroom floor
was the night that i lost the girl i once adored
keep on wishful drinking 'til your problems disappear
keep on pushing away anyone that comes near
you won't find what you're missing when all you're doing is wishing
you try to say it's no problem and you're doing fine
that's hard to believe amidst the stench of wine
i've stuck with you through this rollercoaster ride
i'm beginning to wonder why i even try
you took the final straw and drank my spirits dry
now karma's returning and you're in its sights
i'm leaving this city to escape this hell
now there's nobody left to save you from yourself
